January 5th to January 8th

Our class had our first session with storyteller, Jeff Stockton. He captivated us by sharing a love story with a surprising twist. Jeff played his harp as he spoke highlighting the peaks and valleys of the story. Be sure to have your child share the story with you.

We are on the 3rd chapter of our class novel study, "Within A Painted Past" by Hazel Hutchins. We are learning about Alberta's history as we travel back in time with the main character, Alison.

The students have logged in to Mathletics and are now able to explore the site at both school and home.  Many students have been busy at home taking part in the basic fact challenges where students play along with children from around the world.

We began working on a math project where the students are using addition, subtraction, multiplication and money skills to solve problems.

We had a great time trekking around the school field in our snowshoes. The students are practicing for the races that will take place at Carnaval next week.

Next week is only a three day week, as the students are off for Teachers Conventipn on Thursday and Friday. It will be a busy three days as Carnaval and Rocks and Rings run each day. Jeff Stockdon will be back on Monday as well. Ms. Reschke works next Wednesday so I will miss out on the fun! My blog will therefore not be updated next week.
