February 22nd to February 26th

In Social Studies we have been learning about the Cordillera region in Canada. The students have been reading a variety of texts and are working on recording information using jot notes. The jot notes will then be used to create a pamphlet on the region. Our focus has been on looking for and recording information that fits within the criteria of the pamphlet.

We had our fourth session with storyteller, Jeff Stockton. He continued the story of "The Horse Faced Girl", once again leaving us in suspense until next Wednesday. It is an interesting tale of a girl who left her village because she was being teased. Jeff reviewed the storytellers tools; voice, facial expression, body language and most importantly a good story to tell. Jeff taught us that these are tools that we can use in every area of our lives.  The best part of working with Jeff is:
"Listening to his amazing stories as well as his harp." L.T
"He always has activities for us and his stories are the BEST!" B.S
"Being relaxed. I love being relaxed, especially in the afternoon. He also makes me feel very happy. It sort of feels like napping." O.G
"He pushes us to be our best and face the WOOSH!" A.H
