January 9th

Welcome back!  It was wonderful to reconnect with the students and hear all about everyone’s winter breaks.  We began the week with writing about the things in our lives that we are grateful for.  The students came up with some very thoughtful ideas.

“I am grateful for classmates who help me when I don’t understand the work.”
“I am grateful for a class that appreciates everyone.”
“I am grateful for the fact that I can go to the grocery store for the food I need to help me grow.”
“I am grateful to have the chance to sleep in complete silence.”
“I am grateful for such nice neighbors.  When my mom broke her wrist, they made us dinner.”
“I am grateful for books to read on my shelf and in the library.”
“I am grateful for a healthy smile because I feel everyone should have one.”

Reading their work made us very grateful to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful children!

This week we completed both our dinosaur centers in social studies and our math centers.  The students put a great deal of work into these centers.

Here are some images from our math centers:

We had our first Zumba class this week!  It was a highlight for many of us.  The students were so engaged and already have quite the dance moves.  We cannot wait to see what they can do by the end of our Zumba sessions!  Unfortunately I was too busy dancing to capture any pictures.
